All our workshops are aimed at beginners with little or no skill level. They are the perfect place to start when learning the construction basics and the eye-catching finishes.

  • All tools and boxes supplied
  • Cakes and buttercreams ready made
  • Themed decorations supplied
  • Aprons supplied
  • Take home what you decorate

If you fancy attending more than one workshop, they each have a title and theme so you know which ones you are booking onto. We repeat the basics each time so whether you have been to one before or a complete newbie, that’s fine – we all learn together.

What do we learn?

  • How to keep the cake on the cake board
  • How to stack the cake to keep it level and straight
  • How to prevent ‘bleeding’ from the sides
  • Crumb coating – why it’s so important and the benefits
  • Sharp edges and flat tops
  • Plus, transporting your cakes

Dedicated Cupcake workshops

Learn to master the art of cupcake decorating during an afternoon of learning and creativity.

Each workshop lasts for approximately two and a half hours and you will be provided with everything you need to create beautifully decorated cupcakes. At the end of the afternoon you’ll take home a box of 12 hand crafted by you cupcakes to share and show off your creative styling.

There will be a steady flow of tea and class sizes are kept to a maximum of 8 for this workshop and it is a no skill entry level. Everyone is welcome.

During our time together you can expect:

  • 12 undecorated cupcakes along with all the equipment you will need to craft your works of art.
  • You will also be given a demonstration on how to make smooth and soft buttercream with a guide to flavour variations.
  • You’ll also learn how to colour your buttercream effectively
  • Learning how to fill and hold your piping bags plus how to effectively pipe with different nozzles
  • In addition we will also learn ways of personalising the cupcakes for a special event or occasion using different types of decorations to crown our cakes.

Every attendee will have access to the free Resources page on the Martha and Mollys Website.

This is an exclusive access to the cake and buttercream recipes plus details of where to buy items such as piping nozzles, bags, boards, boxes, colours etc. plus any other cake related articles of interest. Only workshop attendees will be given access to this page.

In addition to this there will be a private face book community page which you will be invited to join and upload your pictures of subsequent creations and show off your work.

This is a non-judgmental, encouraging space where advice and feedback is free – from and to all members. Only workshop attendees will be invited to join the page.

In each workshop, all our cakes will contain wheat flour, eggs and other dairy items. If you have any allergies, please check with us prior to booking onto your chosen workshop. Best contact us via email: hello@marthaandmollys.im if you are unsure or have any questions.

During and at the end of each workshop, we will be taking a few ‘action shots’ and final product shots for use on our social media sites and website. If you wish not to be part of the pictures, please say so at the time.

Each class is for a maximum of 6 guests. This gives the ideal ratio of time per person as required throughout the workshop for help, guidance and demonstrations. If you feel you would like to learn more, please contact us by email: hello@marthaandmollys.im so we can arrange one to one tuition.
