Martha and Mollys is small business which bakes and creates bespoke cakes for all occasions plus we offer decorating workshops for cupcakes and celebration cakes.
The concept was created back in 2018 by myself, Elizabeth and was named after the two ladies in my life who influenced me and my sweet tooth! Martha was my Grandma and Molly is my Mum. Both home bakers by profession and for pleasure, everything we ate was made from scratch in a traditional manner. From home made bread to scones and cakes, nothing was ever shop bought.
Having spent time learning from the masters, I duly went to college to train as a Chef and that is where my sweet tooth found its place. I’ve spent a combined time of approximately 30 years in the hospitality industry in either front or back of house.
All of the experience gained during this time has led me to where my business is today. From the cake design and making (and tasting) to the social media, bookkeeping and washing up, I do it all. Making and decorating cakes is the easy part!
I have supplied cakes to various businesses on the island such as Laxey Glen Café, Onchan Park Café, Sunset Lakes, Mint and more recently, Kellas in Port St Mary – but only when their family team are having a well-deserved rest!
Right back in the beginning of the workshops, I spotted on social media a wonderful page dedicated to cupcake decorating and I was hooked! Creating beautiful floral cupcakes made to look just like their real counterparts was such a lovely, creative and mindful craft to learn and share.
I have since been off island to visit and learn first-hand the skill plus I also invest a lot of time (and money) into learning new skills online. With all this knowledge, I am happy to stand at the head of a workshop and share these skills with new crafters and learners alike.
Having gained my teaching qualification through University College Isle of Man, I’m able to create a supportive and welcoming learning environment where everyone can progress at their own pace.
I understand that everyone learns differently, so I’ll always take the time to offer extra guidance where needed. With clear, hands-on instruction and plenty of encouragement, we’ll work through each stage together to ensure you feel confident and fully understand what we’re creating.
There are many floral cupcake decorators out there but the ones I find I fit well with are Rachelle’s Cake School in Dorchester and Kerry Boucakes in Norfolk. Both ladies are experts in their fields and are widely used for many businesses as a resource and learning tool.

As there are quite a few cupcake decorators now offering similar designs on the Island, I’m betting they are learning from either one or the other of these masters. If you click the business names, you will be taken straight to their websites so you can see the real experts at work.
I have learnt (and am still learning) from them as this craft evolves and I will continue to share the skill through my workshops.
My cake making side of the business goes from strength to strength whether it’s a wedding cake, birthday cake, thank you gift or a celebration cake. Each cake is made to the specific request of the client, and I only use the very best ingredients for my cakes where cost and availability permit.
I hope you have gained a little insight into Martha and Mollys and should you have any questions about creating your own masterpieces – cake or decorating, just ask. If I can’t help you, I know someone who will.
